About Ratio Coffee

Ratio coffee makers are designed in Portland, Oregon, USA. The company was founded in 2012 by Mark Hellweg with the goal of making the world’s best coffee makers.

There are plenty of products in the world that are barely ‘good enough’ or that last ‘long enough’ for less money. We believe that most products are not good enough when you look at the big picture: total time of ownership. Which is why we wanted to design a machine for coffee consumers with higher standards. Those individuals who want it all: nuanced flavor, the convenience of brewing, pour over precision, simplicity and longevity.

First on the market was the Ratio Eight, followed a few years later by the Ratio Six.

Ratio was born out of a simple question:

In the age of super premium espresso machines, why haven’t the regular coffee makers evolved more?

Our team of experienced designers and manufacturers ensure that each piece is made with care and attention to detail. Of course, only the best materials are used.

For a long time, when it came to choosing a coffee solution for the home, coffee enthusiasts had to choose either a complex brewing method (quality over simplicity) or an overly simplified one (convenience over quality). And neither of them was particularly beautiful.

This was the impetus for starting Ratio back in 2012: to create a solution that combined beauty, simplicity and quality into a single experience. We didn’t want to believe that you had to sacrifice one for the other.

For good coffee, every day!
